2019 was the year of the plastic bag ban in Australia and many of us made one or more small green changes during the year. As we move into a new decade, it is time for all of us to up our game and do a little more.
As we approach the end of the year, you may be thinking about what your New Year's Resolutions for 2020 should be. We have five simple "greener" suggestions right here for ya!
1. Spend More Time Around 'Green' 🌳
The closer we feel to the natural world, the more we love it. And the more we love something, the more we want to protect it.
Make it your new year's resolution to spend more time in green, tranquil, natural environments. Whether it is a city park, a garden, or wilder environments, spending quality time outdoors can help inspire us to, quite literally, save the world. Just think about how you get there and choose to hike or bike rather than choosing less sustainable means of transport.
And wherever you go, take your reusable bottles , glass straws, and other reusable items with you.
Leave only footprints and take only photographs.😉
2. Give Up Single-Use Plastics 🐢
Most of us are well aware that we should buy less. In general, we all have to be more thoughtful about what we buy and reduce our overall consumption. But downsizing our lives can be a major challenge.
Like any major challenge, it is best to tackle the issue one step at a time. One great place to start is by choosing to give up as much single-use plastics as you can. Can you accept the challenge and (with Seastraws' help) reduce your use of single-use plastics in 2020?
3. Adopt Green Living & Grow Your Own 🌱
Climate change is making it more difficult to grow food. But, you can grow at least some of your own food at home.

It's not too late to get in harvest this year. So get some seeds and get growing if you want to dive deeper into green living next year.
4. Eat Less Meat 🥗
Whether or not you are able to grow your own food, you can still make a difference with what you eat. Eat less meat and dairy in 2020 and you can play your role in creating a green living nation.
Choose fresh, local, organic ingredients and get cooking to stay healthy and live more sustainably next year. There are plenty of exciting vegan and vegetarian recipes out there to explore.
5. Give Back – And Not Just Through Green Living 💚
Finally, when you are thinking about green living – remember it is not just about you. There is plenty you can do inside your own home. But, it can also be helpful to look at the bigger picture.
Think about how you can give back, and contribute in wider ways of creating a more eco-friendly and sustainable world.
Donate your time and money to clean our beaches, restore degraded landscapes, or help local wildlife. Vote, and lobby politicians and big business to adopt your green living ideals. Reach out to others with a similar viewpoint to see how you can work together towards a better world.
